Das Miniaturwälzlager besteht aus zwei Lagerringen mit integrierten Laufbahnen. Zwischen den Ringen sind die Kugeln angeordnet, die sich auf den Laufbahnen abwälzen. Der Käfig führt die Wälzkörper, hält sie in gleichmäßigem Abstand zueinander und verhindert, dass sie sich gegenseitig berühren.
Der Durchmesser der Reihe der Miniaturkugellager geht von Ø 1 mm bis Ø 9 mm.
In der Standardausführung wird Chromstahl 100 Cr6 verwendet, in allen Anwendungen, in denen Wasser abwesend ist, wird rostfreier Stahl AISI 440 C oder AISI 420 verwendet.
Die Miniaturwälzlager können in der offenen Ausführung oder in der Ausführung mit schleifenden Dichtungen (2RS) oder mit Metalldeckscheiben (2Z) hergestellt werden. Die Käfige können aus Stahlblech, aus Kunststoff oder aus Phenolharz sein. Die radiale Lagerluft bei Miniaturkugellagern können in 6 Gruppen eingeteilt werden: von der reduzierten Lagerluft MC1 bis zu der vergrößerten Lagerluft MC6.
Die Miniaturkugellager sind besonders geeignet für den Einbau in mikromechanischer Industrie, medizinischen Geräten, Haushaltsgeräten, Mikromotoren, Dentalgeräten, Modellbau, Spindelgeräten, Uhren, Luft- und Raumfahrtindustrie und in allen Anwendungsfällen, in denen die Raumabmessungen sehr gering sind.
